How to Know If Your Business Uses Clean Technology

clean technology

Clean technology refers to technological products, tools or services that seek to reduce environmental pollution and waste. However, technology hardly ever includes non-renewable resources. Often times, businesses use technology that becomes obsolete after a few years or, they may invest in bulk purchases such as buying multiple landline phones for their business when communication can be done online instead using a computer that you already own. It is important to keep track on how you can help the environment.

It is valuable to all companies to use technology that causes less environmental damage compared to other forms of technology. Because of this, we must encourage more businesses to use renewable energy sources as well. Although there are many industries that support a sustainable business approach, not all of us are aware of the damage we can do to the environment if we do not think about these issues.

The following includes different renewable energy options to help keep your company clean and help protect the environment we live in:

  • Wind Energy: Electricity that is generated from a group of wind turbines without producing greenhouse gas emissions. This can help power the electricity used in your office building.
  • Hydroelectric Energy: Electricity that is produced from the gravitational force of water that falls or flows. Hydroelectric plants reduce the production of greenhouse gases. This is another source that can power up your office.
  • Solar Energy: Photovoltaic energy transforms light into electric currents thanks to the photovoltaic effect. Concentrated solar panels use lenses or mirrors to generate electricity for your business. By adding solar panels to the roof construction tips of your building, you can power the lights and computers in your office.
  • Geothermal Energy: This basically uses the heat of the Earth itself to generate electricity. Although less common, this is another source of renewable energy that can help power your business.

There are also other ways to help protect our environment. By keeping our resources clean, we can help keep our air and water clean as well. Here are some examples below:

1) Clean Water

  • Water Treatment: This consists in treating non-fresh water so that it is suitable for human consumption. By treating water, more clean water will be available for those who are in need. If you are a facility that relies on water to create your products, this is particularly important to you.
  • Sewage Treatment: It basically refers to transforming wastewater into water that can be incorporated into the water cycle or be reused. Water is often used when creating products. By being able to use recycled water, you can help save the environment.

2) Reduction of Pollution

  • Control of Emissions: Adopt the sustainable energy sources that are mentioned above, and replace gas vehicles with electric cars and biodiesel cars instead. If your business requires a lot of transportation, find out different ways you can keep emissions lower.
  • Monitoring Pollution: Some countries, such as the United States, use State Local Air Monitoring Stations (SLAMS), which produce reports on the volume of pollutants in the territory. This helps keep track of the pollution in an area, which could be caused by your business if you are not careful.

3) Recycling and Waste Treatment

  • Recycling Consumer Products: When a product reaches the post-consumer phase, it must be properly classified so that it does not end up in landfills. Many products can be recycled. You can offer your customers to return their old or used products for recycling to let them know your company cares about the environment.

Telecommunications services are a good example of how to keep a business clean. By keeping track of call records through a cloud-based apps, there is no need for purchasing any additional hardware such as phones or cables. Everything can be done online, so there is also no papers, documents or files that need to be printed. A call center software, for example, manages and administers services for both internal and external calls in a company. It is a service that contributes 100% to the environment since it does not pollute. This is a prime example of reducing and managing resources and waste, and can also help reduce business costs as well.

The development of clean technology is based on the evolution of communication and information technologies. More governments are beginning to adopt new measures and regulations that call for both individuals and industries to reduce their impact on the environment. New plans that support these measures are being introduced, with the aim of finally adopting clean technology throughout the world.
